OVERVIEW
What is Shopify order automation?
Shopify order automation is a set of rules that react to new orders. When Shopify records a paid order, the automation checks details like destination, order value, and tags, sends the order to the right place, and updates your records.
PROCESS
How it works
01
A trigger fires
Shopify reports the paid order right away, either through a webhook or through the Shopify trigger in Zapier or Make.
02
Rules pick the path
Filters and routers check destination, order value, product, and customer type, then choose the right route for that order.
03
Records update
The order is written to your CRM and other tools. Anything unusual goes to a person with the order details attached.

FAQ
Common questions
Q01
What can Shopify order automation handle?
Common jobs include creating CRM contacts and deals, tagging orders, sending orders to fulfillment, alerting your team about high-value orders, and logging every order in one place.
Q02
Can it stop duplicate entries?
Yes. Webhooks can arrive more than once, so I add a check on the order ID before anything is created. That prevents duplicate contacts, deals, and records.
Q03
What happens when an order does not match the rules?
It goes to a review step with the order details attached, so a person decides. Nothing is dropped silently.
Q04
Should I use Zapier or Make for Shopify?
Zapier is quicker to set up for simple, step-by-step flows. Make handles branching and heavier data work well. I choose based on your order volume and how complex the rules are.
