AUTOMATION SERVICES / API AND WEBHOOKS

API Integrations and Webhooks

When two apps have no ready-made connector, I connect them directly with webhooks and API calls, and I build in retries so a failed request does not lose a record.

OVERVIEW

What is an API integration?

An API integration lets one app send data to, or request data from, another app. A webhook is the simplest version: the first app sends a message the moment something happens. The data usually arrives as JSON, and the automation maps it into the fields the second app expects.

PROCESS

How it works

01

Catch the event

A webhook delivers the new order, form entry, or status change the moment it happens.

02

Map the data

Each field from the incoming JSON is matched to the right field in the receiving app.

03

Handle failures

Retries, error logging, and a way to replay a failed request mean one bad call does not lose a record.

FAQ

Common questions

Q01

What is a webhook?

A webhook is a message one app sends to another the moment something happens, such as a new order. It carries the data in a format called JSON, so the receiving app can act on it right away instead of checking on a schedule.

Q02

What is API payload mapping?

It means matching each field in the data one app sends to the right field in the app receiving it. For example, an order email, total, and line items go to the matching HubSpot properties.

Q03

When do I need a custom integration instead of a built-in connector?

When the app has no connector, the connector is missing the action you need, or the data has to be reshaped in a way the built-in step does not allow.

Q04

Can every app be connected?

Only if it offers an API or webhooks. I check this before any work starts and tell you if an app cannot be connected.
